What to expect from a Nutritional Therapist
A Registered Nutritional Therapist will:
Review your complete health history and that of your family
Ask you about your current and past symptoms and how they have changed
Look at your diet and lifestyle
Assess your nutritional status
Offer functional testing where appropriate
Work with you to devise a unique plan of manageable changes to support better health
The Consultation Process
Currently I offer a free optional 20 minute telephone consultation to establish my clients health concerns and goals.
Before the first consultation a health and nutrition questionnaire for the client will need to be completed. An initial consultation typically lasts between 60 to 90 minutes and in this time the practitioner asks detailed questions such as:
Current health concerns
Symptoms
Diagnosis and treatment
Medical and family history
Lifestyle
Levels of physical activity
Use of medication and supplements
Diet
Using the extensive evidence base for nutritional science an evaluation of the clients needs is carried out to develop a personalised, safe and effective nutrition and lifestyle programme.
Follow up consultations, typically last between 45-60 minutes, are generally after four weeks in order to monitor progress and make any necessary adjustments. Further follow ups maybe required depending on each individual situation.
